This misty painting of an old-growth redwood forest in Northern California is called “Winter Redwoods.”

I was inspired to create this painting after a visit to a redwood grove on a road trip last winter.

The air was soft, cool, and misty, all the way up into the treetops.

The forest floor was a carpet of ferns.

Under the canopy of the mighty redwoods, it was dry. But a soft misty rain was sprinkling from above. I paused and listened quietly to the soft sound of raindrops all around me, falling from the foliage. The tiny, almost imperceptible sounds of millions of raindrops combined to make a gentle roar of white noise.

Looking straight up into the canopy of these gigantic trees, hundreds of feet up in the air, is awe-inspiring.

There is no need to frame this painting, as the image continues around the edges of the wood panel.

This painting transports you into the comforting shelter of the magnificent redwood forest, bringing a peaceful mood to any space.
