This painting of hot pink flowers with deep green leaves, and a background of golden sunshine, is called “Pink Radiance.”

This is a large-scale painting, 30″ x 40″, acrylic colors on a wood panel.

Costa Rica-inspired art
Along the roadside in rural Costa Rica, I photographed a cascade of pink flowers in the late afternoon, which became the inspiration for this painting.

The glow of yellow-orange sunlight shining from the background brings vibrance to the whole painting.

As we look into the light of the sun, the details of twigs, leaves and flowers blur together into abstract shapes.

The bright pink color of the flowers, likely a variety of bougainvillea, makes this painting bold and happy.

An intense contrast between light and shadow shows in the range from light to dark in the details of the glossy green leaves.

The painting continues around the edges of the wood panel.

A painting that glows
You can almost feel the heat of the late afternoon tropical sun bursting out from the painting as it hangs on the wall!

There are certain moments of nature exploration when you can feel stunned by the beauty surrounding you.

This painting captures that feeling, so you can feel it again and again every time you look at it.

One of the challenges of painting that most fascinates me is figuring out how to create a warm glowing light using only paint.

You can see how it glows from across the room!

The original painting and prints are available. Feel free to reach out with questions!
