This painting is 48″ x 12″, acrylic on a wood panel, and it’s called Jungle in Pink.

I created this painting from a photo I took during my artist residency in Costa Rica in 2024.

On a walk through the jungle late in the afternoon, I noticed this plant on the jungle floor with bright pink leaves!

A Striking Color
I have a houseplant called a tricolor stromanthe, and it looks similar to that, but more pink.

The vibrant color stopped me in my tracks, and I stopped to take the photo which later became the inspiration for this painting.

In the background, above and behind the pink plant are layers upon layers of jungle foliage. This is what it’s like in the jungle: So many interesting varieties of plants just growing on top of each other, as far as the eye can see.

The Tropical Jungle Experience
Walking on the jungle floor, you are deep in shadow, but the hot sunlight filtering down through the vegetation comes through bright and piercing.
Behind the pink leaves are some type of palm fronds, the light shining through their blades in rows of little white dots.

At the top of the painting, small leaves are lit up by the sun in shades of orange, yellow, and red.

The painting continues onto the edges of the wood panel.

This painting is alive with the warmth and vibrance of tropical colors. The combination of pink and green is striking!
This art is perfect for someone looking to add an energetic and happy feeling to their space.
