Intentionally placed brushwork and the addition of realistic imagery keep this artwork from veering completely into the abstract. Thick texture and thin glazes of color work together to form images that are abstract, while still reminiscent of imagery from the real world.

Cedar’s playfulness and experimentation with art materials in the studio direct her creative choices, as she follows the meaning and emotion she sees in the art as it emerges, allowing each painting to tell her where it wants to go.
