Giant Moon!
This painting of an impossibly large full moon rising in the background of the Tree of Life has set me off on a tangent to explore this theme more. The tree, with my characteristic cross-section view of the roots growing deep under the ground, looks strong and solid.
Countless stars glitter in the deep blue sky. Below the earth is orange-red. This is a continuation of the red/blue/gold color scheme I’ve been playing with.
Perhaps my favorite thing about this painting is how much thicker I’ve painted the tree, so the texture of the paint actually stands out from the canvas in a sculptural way.
