Our mind focuses on this imagery, just as we might focus our attention on our breath while meditating.
Focus the mind through art
During meditation, abstract thoughts and sensations float in the background of our awareness, much like the abstract shapes and colors in the background of this painting.
Some concrete thoughts may start to take form, but they fade into the background again as we intentionally refocus our attention.
This beautiful and inspiring image can serve as a reminder to take a moment to breathe and focus the mind.
The calming presence of nature around us
The image of the sun shining through this trio of leaves is the same image I painted in my previous piece “Sun Through Leaf.”
I think I took the reference photo alongside a jungle trail in Hawaii several years ago. The exact location, of course, isn’t the point.
This beautiful sight caught my eye and inspired me to paint this image twice now!
