The Cosmic Dance series embodies the concept of balance in the universe–yin and yang. Sun and moon, day and night, heaven and earth, fire and water, hot and cold. The vastness and completeness of a perfectly balanced universe cannot be captured in a painting, but I attempt to evoke the wonder we feel as we experience glimpses of it. This series conjures thoughts of epic myths and creation stories.
I use the imagery I find most inspiring. The threshold between today and tomorrow as the rising sun burns away the darkness of night…The sun eclipsed by the moon in lucky moments of alignment…The solitary, majestic Tree of Life, roots residing under the earth and branches reaching into the heavens…Flocks of birds in celebratory flight…Panoramic mountains stretched out below skies swirling with life and color.
We feel so small and separate, yet the essence of the cosmos is within each of us.
