Belated Happy New Year!

Here is my first painting of 2013: Portal. It’s analogous to a doorway to the mysterious future, with its infinite possibilities, compelling us to move into it. The beautiful colors and atmospheric forms remind us to look for the beauty in the present moment, even as we are being relentlessly pulled into the depths of the unknown.

When I asked my husband for input on the title, he suggested “Cosmic Sphincter.” Not really what I was going for, but I found that hilarious and oddly fitting. However, I opted to go with the more open-to-interpretation “Portal.”

Regardless of how your new year has started, I hope you’ll try to find the beauty in this moment, and step into your next moment with that same peaceful intention.
